There's a real problem. But it's been overcomplicated on purpose.

Here's the truth: there is a genuine problem with matte and satin finishes. Owners who grab a standard carnauba wax from the shelf — the product that's done fine on their gloss paint for years — apply it to their new flat-finish Porsche or BMW and suddenly have a car that looks blotchy, greasy, and partially gloss in random spots.
